Edullect Academy Independent School is a small, relatively new Islamic independent school for pupils aged 3 to 11. This was its first standard inspection, and inspectors found safeguarding standards met, with pupils happy, safe and well behaved, and most areas of school life at the expected standard. Pupils benefit from a broad, well-sequenced curriculum, strong early reading and mathematics, effective SEND inclusion, and a wide enrichment offer. Leaders have created a calm, respectful and inclusive culture, and parents are overwhelmingly positive. However, the early years and leadership/governance require attention. In the early years, staff do not consistently promote language and vocabulary, activities are not always sharply matched to intended learning, and assessment is not used well enough to adapt teaching, so some children do not achieve as well as they could. The proprietor's monitoring is not precise enough, early years staff training is not focused effectively, and the school does not consistently meet all statutory Early Years Foundation Stage requirements. As a result, the independent school standards for quality of education and leadership/management are not met. There are also more minor concerns, including some teachers not intervening quickly enough when pupils make errors and overall persistent absence remaining high, although individual attendance is improving. Leaders are taking action but these improvements need time to embed. The next steps focus on securing consistent early years teaching, language development, assessment and statutory compliance, and ensuring robust proprietor challenge so all independent school standards are met.
