Riseley Green School is a small independent school for pupils aged 4-16 with autism, all of whom have an education, health and care plan. Inspectors found safeguarding standards met, with early years and inclusion judged strong and all other evaluated areas at expected standard. The school is highly inclusive and caring, pupils feel happy and safe, attendance has improved, behaviour is positive, and clinical support is a particular strength. Leaders, governors and the proprietor have a clear understanding of the school's strengths and areas for development. Staff feel valued, parents are overwhelmingly supportive, and the curriculum is ambitious and generally taught well. There are still areas to improve. Curriculum implementation is not fully consistent across the staff team and year groups, and a small proportion of pupils do not build knowledge as deeply as they could. The school also needs to develop educational visits and enrichment so pupils can connect their learning to the wider world more often.

Strengths
- Highly inclusive provision that identifies and meets pupils' needs swiftly, including those with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and pupils known to social care.
- Excellent early years practice with high-quality interactions, a total communication approach and personalised support matched to sensory needs.
- Pupils achieve well from their starting points and develop foundational knowledge in communication, reading, writing and mathematics.
- Leaders prioritise attendance and pupils' attendance has significantly improved since joining the school.
- Staff maintain high expectations and consistent behaviour approaches, and pupils behave well in a caring, respectful environment.
- The curriculum is ambitious, coherently mapped and supported by effective visual and tactile resources that make learning accessible.
- Clinical staff leadership is a particular strength and supports well-focused professional learning across the school.
- Leaders, governors and the proprietor know the school well, meet statutory duties and make decisions in pupils' best interests.
- Pupils are consulted about school life, develop understanding of British values and are prepared well for life beyond school.
- Pupils are happy, feel safe, build warm relationships and benefit from a strong sense of belonging.
Areas for Improvement
- There are inconsistencies across the staff team in how some aspects of the curriculum are implemented.
- Some activity choices for a small proportion of pupils do not help them move forward in learning as effectively as they could.
- Beyond Reception, some aspects of the curriculum are not taught as precisely as they could be, so a small proportion of pupils do not deepen their knowledge and understanding as much as possible.
- The programme of educational visits and enrichment is still developing, with limited opportunities for pupils to connect learning to the wider world.
- Leaders need to ensure the curriculum is implemented highly effectively across all year groups and subjects.
- Leaders should further develop enrichment activities, educational trips and visits to enhance the personal development offer.
