William Morris Primary School is a highly inclusive, welcoming school where pupils feel safe and a strong sense of belonging, including the many pupils who join mid-year. This was a full section 5 inspection; the school is part of the Be Different Federation and serves a context with above-average disadvantage and location deprivation. Safeguarding standards are met. Inspectors found strong practice in attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, early years, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. Attendance systems are highly effective, behaviour is exemplary, the curriculum is broad and ambitious, and pupils with SEND or other barriers are supported exceptionally well. Staff know pupils and families well, pastoral care is bespoke, and pupils contribute actively to their community. Achievement is the area with the clearest remaining work. Pupils achieve well in lessons and disadvantaged pupils often outperform similar pupils nationally, but some end of key stage 2 national measures remain close to average, and improvements in mathematics have not yet fed through to Year 6 national outcomes. Leaders are focused on embedding these developments further.
