Old Fletton Primary School is a strong and highly inclusive school where pupils are well cared for and behave exceptionally well. Attendance has improved swiftly and leaders intervene early when it dips, while personal development is a clear strength: pupils learn how to stay safe online and offline, respect difference and benefit from tailored pastoral support. Safeguarding standards are met. The curriculum is coherent and ambitious, with particularly strong early reading and mathematics teaching. Leadership is accurate about what is working and what needs refinement, and governors provide effective support and challenge. There are still areas to improve. Teaching is not yet consistently highly effective across all subjects and year groups, early years provision needs further refinement so more children are fully ready for Year 1, and achievement, while close to national averages, is not yet above average in national tests. Disadvantaged pupils’ reading outcomes were below national in 2024/25, and the school’s disadvantage gap remains notable. The school is larger than average, has above-average free school meals and location deprivation, and runs a nursery and one unregistered alternative provision.
