Inspectors found the school performing at the expected standard across all inspected areas, with safeguarding standards met. Pupils achieve well, and phonics is a particular strength, with Year 1 results consistently above national figures. Teaching has improved since the previous inspection, and leaders have built a well-sequenced curriculum with a strong focus on early reading, writing and mathematics. The school's inclusive culture, strong pastoral care and wide personal development offer are notable strengths. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and disadvantaged pupils are identified quickly and generally make suitable progress, with support helping to close gaps. Attendance is generally regular, although overall absence has been above national averages, while persistent absence is close to average. The main remaining priorities are to make more consistent use of ongoing assessment so that pupils know and remember more across all subjects, and to ensure early years adults interact consistently well during play-based learning so children deepen their understanding. This was a full section 5 inspection of a Church of England controlled primary in the Diocese of Guildford. The school has 215 pupils, close to average for its phase, with free school meal eligibility and SEN support below national averages and EHC plans close to average. It has no resourced provision. The report notes considerable improvement since the previous inspection, with leaders, staff and governors working well together.
