Miniland Farm is a small independent special school that opened in July 2025 and received its first standard inspection in June 2026. It caters for up to 10 pupils aged 5 to 11, all of whom have education, health and care plans, with social, emotional and mental health needs and autism as the primary categories of need. Safeguarding standards are met, and the school meets all independent school standards. Leaders have created a calm, nurturing and wholly inclusive environment where pupils are well known and supported to re-engage with education. Attendance and behaviour are particularly strong. Pupils' attendance improves markedly, behaviour overall is excellent, and bullying is rare. Pupils become confident, resilient learners who show respect and develop positive attitudes. Achievement, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing are all at the expected standard. The curriculum is broad and prioritises reading, writing and mathematics, with targeted support and practical farm-based learning helping pupils apply their skills. Pupils achieve well from low starting points, and the farm setting plays a significant role in reducing anxiety and supporting emotional regulation. The main areas for further development are the consistency of assessment and ongoing checks across the curriculum, so that errors are identified and corrected swiftly enough before learning moves on. Leaders should continue to develop staff expertise, strengthen leadership capacity to support the headteacher, refine the personal development programme so pupils build on prior knowledge more effectively, and embed systems and analysis to achieve consistently strong standards across all areas.
