St Jude’s is a welcoming church junior school where pupils are happy, feel safe and typically behave well. Inspectors found the school performing well across the curriculum, behaviour, personal development and leadership. Some pupils with SEND occasionally lose focus, and staff do not always notice or step in quickly enough to get them back on task. In mixed-age classes, tasks are not consistently adapted to pupils’ differing prior knowledge, so some pupils do not build on what they already know as securely as they could. The report also notes significant context: this was the school’s first routine inspection since the pandemic, and it has been federated with a local infant school since February 2023, with leaders and governors working across both schools.
