Willow House School is a small independent special school for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs. Following a progress monitoring inspection in November 2025, this standard inspection confirms that the school continues to meet all independent school standards and safeguarding requirements. Inspectors found strong practice in attendance and behaviour, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing, with achievement, curriculum and teaching judged at the expected standard. Pupils, many of whom have experienced previous school breakdowns, attend well, re-engage quickly with learning, and make progress across subjects, particularly in reading. The school's therapeutic approach and highly effective support plans have a consistently positive impact on pupils' behaviour, engagement and wellbeing. Leaders have a clear and accurate understanding of the school's strengths and priorities. Two areas for improvement were identified: writing is not yet taught consistently well, and the physical education curriculum and outdoor area are underdeveloped. Overall, the school provides a well-structured, purposeful and inclusive environment in which pupils are well prepared for their next educational placements.
