Deanery Church of England Primary School is a highly successful school where pupils feel happy, safe, valued and heard. Pupils are respectful, behave exceptionally well and show exemplary attitudes to learning. The school has high ambitions for all pupils, including those with SEND, and pupils achieve very well across a well-designed and exciting curriculum. The curriculum is carefully sequenced so that pupils build secure knowledge over time, and teaching is clear and effective. Early years provision gives children a strong start, while early reading and phonics are prioritised and well taught. Personal development is a notable strength, with extensive enrichment, clubs, leadership roles and opportunities that help pupils become caring, active citizens. Leadership is highly effective, safeguarding is effective, and staff feel well supported. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic and its first section 5 inspection since 2013, when it was previously judged outstanding and exempt from routine inspection. It is a single-academy trust and, under the current framework, does not receive an overall effectiveness grade. Inspectors found outstanding provision across all key judgements and identified no significant concerns.
