Description
betaBecket Keys Church of England Free School is an academic institution established in Brentwood, Essex, England, in 2012, as the country's first Church of England secondary school within the Free Schools program. It was sponsored by the Russell Education Trust and received Outstanding ratings at its initial Ofsted and Church of England inspections. The school's head teacher, Andrew Scott-Evans, was instrumental in its proposal and subsequent development. Becket Keys is coeducational, covering the age range of 11 to 18, and enrolls approximately 950 students. It maintains the motto "Faith in learning – Et in Doctrina Fidei" and features a color scheme of purple, gold, black, and grey. This prestigious institution took over the former campus of Sawyers Hall College and has undergone extensive improvement works, receiving government funding for new buildings and facilities, including a £3.4 million phase 1 project and a £4 million refurbishment completed by 2015. In 2017, Becket Keys added 'The Welby Building' to house its new sixth form, and in 2018 a new Sports Hall was constructed.
