Oxenhope CofE Primary School is performing well overall. Inspectors found a warm, caring and orderly school where the values of love, growth and community are central, pupils feel safe and behaviour is calm and positive. Pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities, achieve well, attend regularly and benefit from strong pastoral support. Reading and phonics are taught consistently, and the early years provision is well structured to prepare children for Year 1. Personal development is a standout strength. Pupils show an exceptional understanding of British values, equality and diversity, take part in a wide range of clubs and activities, and engage meaningfully with the local community and pupils from another school. Leadership and management are secure, with effective trust and governor support, and staff feel well supported with their workload and development. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. The main areas for improvement are in the quality of education. In some curriculum areas, new knowledge is not presented clearly enough, and in some lessons activities are not modelled effectively or concepts are not explained clearly, so pupils do not always achieve as well as they could. The writing curriculum and feedback also need further refinement so that pupils are challenged precisely and deepen their writing knowledge over time. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it is a Church of England primary within Bradford Diocesan Academies Trust.
