Lyng Hall School is a welcoming, inclusive secondary academy in the Finham Park Multi-Academy Trust. This was its first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic. Pupils feel safe, behave well in lessons and are supported by staff who go the extra mile. Attendance is rising, personal development is comprehensive, careers guidance is effective, and the sixth form is a clear strength. The curriculum is broad and ambitious, and pupils with SEND are well supported. However, the quality of education is the weaker area. Although teachers know their subjects and explain content clearly, the curriculum is not implemented consistently across the main school. Many pupils do not learn and remember as much as they should, and key stage 4 outcomes remain low. Assessment checks are not yet used reliably to adapt teaching, and the school’s intended changes to raise achievement have not been applied consistently enough. Behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and sixth-form provision are all strong. Safeguarding is effective. Leaders are encouraged to ensure recent curriculum and assessment changes have the intended impact and are consistently embedded so that standards rise reliably.
