Supreme Education AP has been judged as requiring urgent improvement following its first standard inspection. The school is registered in Croydon but currently teaches no pupils at its registered site; instead it operates as an alternative provision for pupils across England, mostly in their homes or public buildings such as libraries. It caters for pupils with SEND, including autism and social, emotional and mental health needs, but inspectors found widespread and significant failings across all areas. Safeguarding standards are not met, and leaders do not meet many independent school standards. The main concerns are severe: safer recruitment is not followed, staff lack safeguarding training, attendance and behaviour systems are ineffective, and leaders do not monitor teaching or progress. The curriculum is narrow and incomplete, with no PSHE, relationships education or RSE, no careers programme and no enrichment. Pupils with SEND do not have their needs understood or shared with teachers, and the registered premises are unsuitable due to flood damage and fire safety issues. Leaders have poor oversight, provide inaccurate information and do not fulfil statutory duties. Positive findings are limited. Some parents and carers reported that teachers provide effective emotional and pastoral support in some cases, and a few pupils build positive relationships with staff. However, these are isolated strengths against systemic weaknesses, and the proprietor must take urgent action to address safeguarding, curriculum, SEND, attendance, premises and leadership.

Areas for Improvement

  • Safeguarding standards are not met, with no open and positive safeguarding culture.
  • Safer recruitment processes are not followed and required pre-employment checks are incomplete.
  • Many staff have no safeguarding training and are unclear about reporting concerns.
  • Safeguarding record-keeping is weak and concerns are not followed up rigorously.
  • Attendance procedures are ineffective; some pupils are missing from the register.
  • Leaders lack an accurate picture of attendance and do not work well with external agencies.
  • There is no coherent behaviour management system; staff are unaware of or do not apply policy.
  • Staff lack training and strategies to support pupils with complex behavioural and emotional needs.
  • The curriculum is narrow, incomplete and lacks breadth, including no PSHE or relationships education.
  • Teaching is not well planned or sequenced, and assessment systems are ineffective.
  • Leaders do not monitor curriculum or teaching quality and staff receive little training or feedback.
  • Pupils' SEND needs are not understood or shared with teachers; EHC plans are not routinely shared.
  • Individual learning plans lack specific strategies to adapt teaching and support pupils.
  • Many policies, including the accessibility plan, are not tailored to the school or Equality Act requirements.
  • Leaders do not understand or fulfil statutory duties, and many independent school standards are unmet.
  • There are no systems to check the school's compliance or hold leaders to account.
  • Staff receive little or no induction or ongoing professional development.
  • Leaders provide inaccurate and inconsistent information, and record-keeping is poorly managed.
  • The registered premises are unsuitable due to flood damage, fire safety failures and inadequate facilities.
  • There is no personal development programme, careers guidance, enrichment or British values provision.
  • Pupils are not prepared for life beyond school or adulthood.
  • The school operates beyond its registration agreement and has not notified DfE of changes.
  • No pupils attend the registered site, so pupils do not build a sense of belonging to a school community.
  • Teaching staff are geographically dispersed and poorly supported.
