Sheen Mount Primary School is a much larger-than-average primary school in East Sheen. Inspectors found it performing strongly across all inspected areas, with safeguarding standards met. Pupils achieve highly in national assessments over a sustained period, and more than half exceed age-related expectations in reading and mathematics by the end of Year 6. Progress is high for all pupils, including those with SEND and those who join outside the usual start times, while disadvantaged pupils typically achieve in line with or better than disadvantaged pupils nationally and the gap is closing rapidly. The school's strengths are broad. Attendance is very high and persistent absence is low, while behaviour in class and around school is excellent. The curriculum is broad, ambitious and inclusive, with particularly strong early years provision and precise support for pupils with additional needs. Leadership and governance are strong, staff feel well supported, and personal development and wellbeing provision is excellent, giving pupils a wide range of clubs, visits, leadership roles and sporting opportunities. Pupils are happy, feel safe and describe the school community as like a family. The school serves a relatively low-deprivation community, with very low proportions of pupils eligible for free school meals and SEN support, and it uses one unregistered alternative provision. No significant weaknesses were identified, but leaders should continue embedding and sustaining teaching across the school, including ongoing checks that pupils understand what they are taught in all classes.
