The school has notable strengths in its caring culture, personal development and the quality of teaching. Leaders are passionate and have made considerable recent changes, including since the current headteacher took up post in September 2024. Staff feel well supported, attendance has improved to close to national averages, and pupils benefit from a wide range of character-building experiences. Governors take their duties seriously and generally challenge leaders appropriately. Two areas need attention. Early years provision is not yet delivered consistently, and assessment information is not used well enough to adapt provision or support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Inclusion systems are also at an early stage: pupils' needs are not identified quickly or accurately enough, the impact of additional support is not checked thoroughly, and the pupil premium strategy is not communicated or monitored well enough. Leaders and governors also need to scrutinise school information more closely and ensure staff use assessment information consistently to adapt teaching and deepen learning.
