The Greville Primary School is a strong, happy and high-performing school where pupils achieve well. Inspectors judged the quality of education to be good and behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision to be outstanding. The school’s values of resilience, respect, responsibility and kindness shape daily life, and pupils are confident, considerate and eager to learn. The curriculum is ambitious, staff are well supported and expertly trained, provision for pupils with SEND is highly effective, and published outcomes in 2024 were strong for all groups. Behaviour is exemplary, attendance is high and pupils benefit from exceptional personal development and pastoral support. Musical opportunities are particularly strong, and the school makes sure disadvantaged pupils and pupils with SEND can take part. Early years provision has improved significantly since the previous inspection, and reading and phonics are taught very well. Governance is committed and knowledgeable, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. The main area for improvement is assessment in a couple of subjects, where checks on pupils’ retention of previously taught knowledge are not robust enough, leaving some pupils with gaps. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and under current arrangements it has not been given an overall effectiveness grade.
