The Vale Academy moved into a new building in January 2017, following which the old buildings of Glanford and Westmoor Schools were demolished. The history of the school dates back to 1955, when it was a secondary modern known as Glanford Secondary School, a two-form entry. In 2013, The Vale Academy received a rating of Grade 2 (good) and has maintained this status following its subsequent Ofsted inspections.
