Harris Primary Academy Kenley is a highly effective school where pupils are safe, happy and meet very high academic expectations. Inspectors found exceptionally strong provision across the curriculum, behaviour, personal development, leadership and early years, with pupils achieving excellent Year 6 attainment. The curriculum is ambitious beyond the national curriculum, teaching is precise and subject knowledge is strong, and pupils recall their learning well across subjects. Reading and phonics are very well organised, pupils with SEND learn the same ambitious curriculum successfully, and behaviour and attendance are exceptionally strong. Pupils benefit from a wide range of visits, clubs, leadership opportunities, community involvement and mental health support. Governance is effective, staff wellbeing is prioritised and leaders act on parental feedback. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic and its first section 5 inspection since 2015, when it was previously exempt as outstanding. It is part of the Harris Federation. Under current arrangements no overall effectiveness grade was awarded, but all key judgements were outstanding and no areas for improvement were identified.
