Inspectors found strong standards in attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, early years, inclusion, and leadership and governance. Achievement and personal development are at the expected standard. Pupils are safe, happy and behave excellently, with attendance improving and persistent absence reducing. The curriculum is ambitious and well-sequenced, helping pupils become confident readers and well-prepared for their next stage. Early years provision is particularly strong, and pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities and those who are disadvantaged receive effective support. Leadership is a notable strength, with a recently appointed principal who is well established, and trustees and governors providing robust challenge. The school is part of Maltby Learning Trust and also runs a 2-year-old provision and nursery. However, there are areas for further improvement. A small minority of pupils do not achieve as highly as they could by the end of key stage 2, and recent curriculum and teaching improvements need more time to fully impact on published outcomes. The personal development programme, while broad, is not yet tailored closely enough to pupils' needs and aspirations, including the extra-curricular offer. Leaders have been given clear next steps to address these points.
