Henry David Learning Woodfield School is an independent special school for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities, all of whom have an education, health and care plan. In this standard inspection, inspectors found the school meeting the expected standard across all evaluated areas, with safeguarding standards met and all independent school standards met. The school has continued to improve since its previous inspection, and leaders have a clear, ambitious vision for further development. The school's main strengths lie in its inclusive, welcoming culture and the quality of support pupils receive. Pupils feel safe, build positive relationships with staff, and benefit from a calm and purposeful school day. Reading is prioritised, the curriculum is broad and ambitious, and staff use assessment and EHC plan targets well to close gaps and meet individual needs. Personal development, preparation for adulthood, careers education, and work experience are also strong features of the school's provision. There are some areas for further work. Leaders should ensure all staff can access the detailed sequence of learning for each subject beyond the class they teach, so that progression is consistently coherent across the school. Attendance has improved significantly for many pupils, but a small number remain persistently absent and need continued support. Pupils' understanding of other faiths and religions is also more limited than their understanding of other aspects of diversity and British values.
