St Edward’s Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School is a highly effective and inclusive school where pupils feel happy, proud and safe. Inspectors found the school to be exceptional across every area judged, with pupils achieving highly and behaving impeccably. The school’s core values are clearly embedded, and pupils benefit from a wide range of enrichment, leadership and cultural opportunities, including the ‘25 St Edward’s Experiences’. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it was previously judged good. The curriculum is ambitious, well sequenced and delivered consistently well by knowledgeable staff. Reading and early language are given high priority from Nursery, and pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities are identified effectively and supported well, including through the school’s specially resourced ‘Treehouse’ provision for pupils with autism. Personal development is exceptional, behaviour and attitudes are exemplary, and leadership and governance are strong. Staff are well supported, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. Inspectors identified no significant weaknesses.
