Oldfield Primary School

Oldfield Primary School is a highly effective primary school where pupils receive an excellent standard of education and achieve exceptionally well, including pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities. Inspectors found the school outstanding across the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. The school's ambitious curriculum, strong teaching, early identification and support for SEND, and prioritisation of reading were highlighted as particular strengths. Pupils behave well, attend very well, feel happy and safe, and benefit from an impressive range of personal development opportunities. The early years provision gives children a strong start, with well-supported transition, effective teaching of early reading and number, and a firm foundation for Year 1. Leaders, staff and governors are dedicated and effective, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. This was the school's first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic and its first section 5 inspection since 2014, having previously been exempt as outstanding. No significant weaknesses or areas for improvement were identified in the report.
