The school boasts a rich history, previously known as Lambeth Academy, which has an alumni society and history that dates back to its origins as a grammar school established in 1929. The Sixth Form features around 180 students and is adjacent to the sixth-form center of Lambeth College.

The Elms Academy is an inclusive school with a close-knit community within the wider Clapham neighborhood. The academy's beauty, its progress, and the success of its students have made it one of the most important educational destinations within the area.
