Swanland Primary School is a warm, welcoming and high-performing primary where pupils are safe, happy and achieve well. Pupils’ behaviour and personal development are exceptional: they are polite, respectful, articulate and have a strong understanding of safety, healthy relationships, diversity and British values. The early years provision is also exceptional, and early reading is a clear strength, with effective phonics teaching and a well-developed reading culture. Pupils with SEND access the whole curriculum alongside their peers and succeed, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. Leaders have designed a purposeful curriculum and review their work rigorously, with effective support from the EDUKOS Trust; staff value the professional development and wellbeing support they receive. The main area for improvement is consistency of curriculum delivery. In some subjects, the work pupils complete does not help them practise and embed new learning, so some pupils develop gaps in knowledge. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it remains part of the EDUKOS Trust.
