Hareclive E-ACT Academy is a welcoming and inclusive school where pupils feel safe, behave well and benefit from strong pastoral support. Safeguarding standards are met, and leaders have made significant progress in improving attendance and reducing suspensions. Early years provision, inclusion and personal development are generally effective, with a language-rich early years curriculum and strong phonics teaching standing out. The school is part of the E-ACT multi-academy trust and serves a community with high levels of disadvantage, including well above-average free school meals and SEN support. It has also managed a period of change and essential building work under a substantive headteacher appointed in September 2025. Most inspected areas are at the expected standard, but achievement and curriculum and teaching require attention. Teaching quality is variable, some staff lack secure curriculum and subject knowledge, and assessment is not consistently precise enough to address gaps or provide sufficient challenge. As a result, some pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND, do not build knowledge securely across subjects and are not well prepared for their next stage. Published outcomes are below national averages in reading, writing and mathematics, and disadvantage gaps remain large. Leaders have an accurate view of the school’s priorities, and the trust provides effective support and oversight. The next steps focus on developing staff expertise and improving assessment so that teaching consistently enables all pupils to achieve well from their starting points.
