Walbottle Academy has shown significant improvement since it became part of the Northern Education Trust in 2020. This is the school's first inspection since the change, and it has notably transformed into an inclusive and positive community where pupils feel safe and respected. The leadership has high expectations, and pupils are responding well to the ambitious curriculum, which supports their aspirations. Although there have been positive changes in behaviour and attendance, there are still challenges with high suspension rates and attendance concerns, particularly among some students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

- English
- Maths
- 3 subjects from qualifications that count towards the English Baccalaureate (EBacc), like sciences, language and history
