Educ8 Liverpool

Educ8 Liverpool is an independent special school for pupils aged 13 to 16. This was a progress monitoring inspection following earlier findings that the school did not meet all independent school standards. The inspection found that the school now meets all of the standards checked, including leadership and management, safeguarding, health and safety, risk assessment and staff suitability. The report notes that the school has moved on well from previous weaknesses, particularly by reducing its reliance on external support and strengthening its own leadership capacity. The leadership restructure was implemented earlier than planned, and the new executive headteacher role has added strength. Leaders now have clearer roles and responsibilities, and the executive board and proprietor hold them to account more robustly. This has helped the school identify improvement areas sooner and has driven curriculum improvements that are supporting better pupil achievement. Safeguarding is now a clear strength: policy and record-keeping are appropriate and thorough, staff are trained and vigilant, and pupils say they feel well supported. Other checked areas are also secure. Staffing ratios and supervision are suitable, including off-site activities. Risk assessments are detailed, regularly reviewed and tailored to pupils’ needs. Recruitment checks are correctly recorded. The report identifies no current concerns in the standards inspected, though it notes the earlier context of rejected action plans and serious weaknesses before the improvements took effect.
