Haslemere Primary School is performing well overall. Inspectors found a respectful, inclusive culture where pupils feel safe and valued, high expectations are set for all, and learning is matched to pupils’ needs. The school is particularly strong in personal development, and pupils benefit from a wide range of enrichment and leadership opportunities. Pupils behave well, achieve highly in mathematics national assessments, and get a strong start in the early years. The curriculum is logically sequenced, reading is a key priority, and pupils with SEND or EAL are supported effectively through swift identification and adapted teaching. Safeguarding is effective, and leaders, governors and staff share high ambition; families and staff speak positively about the new leadership team’s improvements. The school works in partnership with two other local schools, with an executive headteacher leading across the partnership. Two main areas need improvement. Some pupils struggle with early writing, especially cursive handwriting and letter accuracy, which holds back their learning in subjects where writing is integral. Too many pupils do not attend regularly, and follow-up systems for high absence are not fully embedded, so some pupils miss important learning. This was a graded inspection, and no overall effectiveness grade was awarded under the current framework.
