Bond Primary School is a community primary school that was judged good across all key areas in its first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic. The school has an ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum with reading and communication placed at the heart of learning from the early years. Pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities access the same curriculum as their peers and are supported to progress from their starting points. Behaviour is good, pupils are respectful and feel safe, and personal development is strengthened through clubs, trips, cultural celebrations and the student council. Parents are typically happy with the school’s support, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. The main areas for improvement are attendance and assessment use. Despite robust efforts, attendance rates are just below national averages, including for pupils with SEND and disadvantaged pupils, meaning some pupils miss essential learning. In some subjects, teachers do not make effective use of the information from their checks on pupils’ learning to adapt the planned curriculum, so pupils do not fully secure all key knowledge. Published outcomes have historically been affected by the pandemic and pupil movement, and raising outcomes, particularly in Year 6, remains an ongoing priority for leaders and governors. Contextually, this was a graded inspection under the current framework, so no overall effectiveness grade was given. The school was previously judged good in 2019, uses one registered alternative provision, and has a nursery with morning and afternoon sessions. The governing body knows the school’s priorities and supports continued improvement to the curriculum and published outcomes.
