Benedict Academy is an exceptional primary school where pupils flourish. Inspectors found the school has the highest expectations and that pupils, including children in the early years, rise to them. Pupils are impeccably behaved, make exceptional progress from their starting points, and are well supported to develop personally and socially. The curriculum is rich and ambitious, including for pupils with SEND, and early reading is a particular strength. Attendance has improved significantly, and pupils feel happy and safe. The school is part of STEP multi-academy trust and this was its first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic. It converted to academy status in 2020; its predecessor school had previously been judged inadequate. Leaders, staff, trustees and parents are positive about the school, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. No areas of concern were identified in the report.
