Crocketts Community Primary School is a highly inclusive and welcoming school where staff understand the needs of pupils and the local community. Leaders are ambitious for all pupils, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and the school's 'unlocking futures' motto is evident in its care, high expectations and strong relationships with families. Behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision are all outstanding, while the quality of education is good. Pupils are happy, safe and respectful, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. The school's strengths include an exceptional early years journey, a strong reading culture and expert phonics teaching, robust SEND identification and support, exemplary personal development, and highly effective governors. In most subjects, the curriculum sets out knowledge clearly and pupils build on prior learning well. Pupils also benefit from a curriculum that prepares them for adulthood and from a wide range of wider experiences. The main area for improvement is English, particularly writing. The component knowledge that pupils should learn over time is not clear enough, and pupils do not build their writing knowledge in a clear sequential way, which slows learning for some. This was the school's first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it had not been inspected under section 5 since 2014 because it was previously exempt as an outstanding school. Since September 2024, schools have not been awarded an overall effectiveness grade.
