Mount Hawke Academy is a primary academy converter within the Aspire Academy Trust, with 262 pupils aged 4 to 11. Inspectors found the school performing exceptionally well across every key judgement, with no overall effectiveness grade given under the current inspection framework. The school had not been routinely inspected since 2013 because of its previous outstanding judgement and exemption, and this was its first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic. The report describes a school with highly ambitious curriculum planning, exceptional pupil recall and strong outcomes, including phonics results significantly above national averages. Pupils, including disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND, achieve highly and are well prepared for their next stage. Staff are warm and precise in adapting support, and pupils’ behaviour, personal development and character are exemplary. Pupils take on leadership roles, run clubs, contribute to the community and attend well. Leadership is strong, with the trust knowing the school well and addressing any weaknesses promptly. Parents are overwhelmingly positive, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. Inspectors identified no areas of concern or required improvement in this report.
