Inspectors found a highly inclusive school where leaders have consistently high expectations, strong governance, and a clear commitment to improving life chances. The school’s inclusive practice, leadership, personal development, and post-16 provision are notable strengths, with pupils feeling safe, respected, and well supported. Safeguarding standards are met. Pupils benefit from positive relationships, calm behaviour, and a wide enrichment and careers offer. Sixth-form students achieve well and progress to ambitious destinations, and disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND receive targeted support. Attendance is improving, and leaders are taking effective action to reduce absence. However, achievement, attendance and behaviour, and curriculum and teaching are judged at expected rather than strong standard. Outcomes in English and maths GCSE are below national averages, Progress 8 is negative, and disadvantaged pupils’ progress and attainment lag behind national figures. Teaching is generally effective, but some variation remains, with a small number of lessons not delivering content precisely enough, leaving gaps in pupils’ knowledge.
