Nunthorpe Academy is currently rated as requiring improvement after its first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the school offers a broad curriculum and has a nurturing sixth-form provision, several areas need significant enhancement. The leadership is aware of the challenges, particularly regarding behaviour management, the support for pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND), and attendance issues. While some pupils enjoy their learning and feel safe, there are concerns about disruption in key stages and reports of bullying that have not been effectively addressed. The need to develop a robust reading programme and ensure pupils understand diversity is also highlighted.
