Conway Primary School is a highly inclusive primary academy in the Create Partnership Trust where pupils feel safe, happy and valued. Inspectors found warm and respectful relationships, a purposeful learning atmosphere, and a strong culture of safeguarding and well-being. Pupils behave well, engage in learning, and benefit from a wide range of personal development opportunities, including leadership roles and enrichment clubs. The school was judged good across the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. This was its first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it took place after significant staffing changes, including a new executive headteacher and head of school. Reading, phonics and mathematics are prioritised, pupils with SEND are identified quickly and supported well, and attendance support is helping improve attendance. Governance and trust oversight are effective, and staff value the professional development and workload consideration. However, inspectors found some inconsistencies. Checking of pupils' understanding is not always rigorous enough, so gaps in knowledge can go unnoticed. Some pupils are not consistently challenged to deepen their knowledge across the curriculum, and in early years children have too few opportunities to practise and apply learning independently because activities are not fully aligned with the planned curriculum. Mathematics problem-solving and reasoning are also still developing.
