Foxbridge Primary School is a happy, aspirational and inclusive new primary school that opened in August 2022 and is part of Scholars Academy Trust. This was its first routine inspection under section 5, and inspectors found the school good in all key judgements: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and early years provision. Pupils are proud to attend, feel safe and valued, and benefit from a broad, ambitious curriculum that is well structured from Reception onwards. Reading and phonics are strong priorities, pupils with SEND are well supported, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. The school’s nurturing ethos is evident in pupils’ positive attitudes, calm and orderly behaviour, and the wide range of enriching experiences and responsibilities available to them. Staff are proud to work at the school and value the trust’s collaborative support, training and attention to workload and well-being. Parents are highly appreciative of the school’s approachable and supportive work with families. The main area for improvement is assessment in some foundation subjects. Teachers check pupils’ learning often, but they do not always use those checks precisely enough to identify misunderstandings or gaps, which can mean next steps are not well matched and some pupils do not progress as quickly as they could. Overall, the school is performing well and has a clear foundation for further development as it continues to grow.

Strengths
- Pupils are happy, proud, safe and valued, and they show respect and kindness to others.
- The curriculum is broad, ambitious and well structured, with clear sequencing and opportunities to revisit important concepts.
- Reading is a priority, and phonics is taught well from the start, including strong support for weaker readers to catch up.
- Pupils with SEND are well supported and included, with careful adaptations so they can learn alongside their peers.
- Pupils develop demanding vocabulary and become confident, skilful communicators.
- Personal development is strong, with well-being, safety, respect for difference and preparation for life in modern Britain woven through school life.
- Behaviour and attitudes are good; pupils follow routines calmly and take on responsibilities such as school councillors and lunchtime monitors.
- The trust provides strong collaborative support, training and attention to staff workload and well-being.
- Safeguarding arrangements are effective.
- Parents value the school’s nurturing ethos and the tailored support offered to families.
Areas for Improvement
- In some foundation subjects, teachers do not use assessment checks carefully enough to spot pupils’ misunderstandings or learning gaps.
- Because assessment is not always used precisely, teachers sometimes do not make appropriate decisions about pupils’ next learning steps.
- Some pupils do not progress as quickly as they could through the curriculum as a result of weaker assessment follow-up in foundation subjects.

Admissions: local authority offers data from the Department for Education. A school is oversubscribed when at least 5% of the families who put it first were not offered a place, and undersubscribed when everyone who put it first got in but 10% or more of its places were unfilled in the Department's school capacity survey (the latest survey is used for entry years it does not cover). Places: Department for Education, School capacity, from local authorities' annual survey as at 1 May. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024–25); the survey was not run in 2020. Places include sixth form places. Forecasts are the local authority's own for the school's planning area, an area it uses to plan places that is not the school's catchment area. The forecast starts from a head count in 2025; the dashed line is the Department's estimate of places in that area, including those the authority has firm plans for. Planned places are cumulative, and only those with firm plans are counted.

A pupil can be suspended more than once, so suspensions per 100 pupils can be higher than the share of pupils suspended. Very small numbers are hidden by the DfE. Exclusion figures dropped in 2020 and 2021 because of school closures.

Source: Department for Education, School workforce in England. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024/25). Pupils per teacher counts full-time-equivalent pupils and teachers. Turnover is the share of a year's teachers (full-time equivalent) who were not at the school the following year, whether they moved to another school or left state-funded teaching. Turnover and sickness figures run one year behind the ratios. Sick leave is the share of teachers who took at least one day in the year, so it swings widely at small schools, where a few teachers can make it 0% or 100%. The national figures are for all state schools of the same type.
