Graduately Developing Futures is a small independent special school for pupils with complex special educational needs and/or disabilities, all of whom have education, health and care plans and many of whom experienced disrupted education before joining. This was the school's first standard inspection, and it met all independent school standards and safeguarding requirements. Inspectors judged every evaluated area to be at least strong standard, including achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing. The school's main strengths are its highly personalised provision, rapid pupil progress from often low starting points, significantly improved attendance, calm and purposeful behaviour, and an inclusive, nurturing culture. Leaders have a clear moral purpose and accurate view of the school, staff are well supported, therapeutic and communication strategies are integrated into daily practice, and parents are overwhelmingly positive about the school. Pupils develop academically, emotionally and socially, and are well prepared for adulthood. The main development point is for leaders to build further on assessment systems so they can demonstrate sustained, positive long-term outcomes as the school continues to grow. No graded area was below strong standard, and no significant concerns were identified.
