Meadows View School is an independent special school that opened in May 2025 and was inspected for the first time in June 2026. It has 29 pupils, all with education, health and care plans, and supports a range of special educational needs and/or disabilities including social, emotional and mental health needs, speech, language and communication needs, and autism. The inspection found that safeguarding standards are met and that all independent school standards are met. Across achievement, attendance and behaviour, curriculum and teaching, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing, the school is judged to be at the expected standard. Inspectors highlighted strong work in inclusion, communication, attendance and behaviour. Pupils typically join with much lower starting points and histories of poor or non-attendance, but leaders have successfully improved attendance, and staff use individualised support, specialist expertise and communication aids so that pupils make steady progress and are increasingly prepared for their next stage. Pupils feel safe, are happy to attend, and benefit from caring relationships, clear routines and a curriculum matched to their needs. Parents are deeply appreciative of the care their children receive, and leaders have worked tirelessly to establish a purposeful school. The main areas for development are that staff do not always use a wide enough range of techniques to secure consistent engagement in learning; a newly introduced pathway for pupils in crisis is at a very early stage and needs checking; some personal development plans, including extra-curricular trips and visitors, are not yet fully realised; and leaders should respond to staff concerns about workload and wellbeing.
