Tolworth Junior School is a close-knit, inclusive community where pupils feel safe and are well cared for. Inspectors found an exemplary education, with pupils learning a broad, well-organised curriculum that builds knowledge cumulatively over time. Teaching is precisely adapted, including for pupils with SEND, and reading is given high priority, helping pupils become confident and fluent readers. Behaviour and attitudes are exceptional: pupils are mature, kind and considerate, and they take on roles such as playground leaders and mental health ambassadors. Personal development is impressive, with strong provision for pupils' wider experiences, equality and respect, and preparation for life in modern Britain. Leadership and management are also outstanding; governors and leaders monitor the school closely, consider staff workload and well-being, and rigorously monitor attendance. Safeguarding arrangements are effective. This was the school's first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic and its first graded inspection under section 5; it is part of a hard federation with Tolworth Infant School and has a specially resourced provision for pupils with moderate and severe learning difficulties. All four key judgements were outstanding, and no areas for improvement were identified.
