Newport School

Newport School is a nurturing and inclusive primary school that inspectors found to be performing at an exceptionally high level across all judged areas. The school has a broad, highly ambitious curriculum, strong teaching and a clear focus on helping every pupil, including those with SEND, to deepen their knowledge and be exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of education. Reading is a high priority, pupils behave in an exemplary way, and personal development is woven throughout the curriculum so that pupils become confident, responsible and considerate learners. Leadership is ambitious and staff are well supported, with leaders, governors and the wider federation sharing a commitment to excellence. Pupils benefit from a calm, purposeful environment, strong routines from early years, good attendance and effective safeguarding arrangements. The report identifies no significant areas for improvement. This was the school's first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic, and it has not been inspected under section 5 since June 2013 because of its previous outstanding exemption. The school is part of the Opossum Federation and, under the current inspection framework, has not been given an overall effectiveness grade.
