Lantern of Knowledge Secondary School is a small independent Islamic school that is performing well overall. Safeguarding standards and all independent school standards are met. While the curriculum is broad and teachers generally check understanding well, a few subjects are less effective in promoting pupils’ understanding and progression, and expectations in those areas do not consistently encourage pupils to aim as high as elsewhere. Leaders have been asked to further develop staff pedagogical knowledge and skills so that learning is embedded consistently across all subjects. Overall, this is a school with strong attendance, behaviour and personal development, and secure expected standards in achievement, curriculum, inclusion and leadership.
