Sileby Redlands Community Primary School is a happy, close-knit school where pupils are confident, respectful and enthusiastic about learning. Inspectors found the school ambitious for all pupils and particularly praised its exceptional personal development offer, which gives pupils a wide range of clubs, visits and experiences and helps them develop empathy and confidence. Reading is a clear strength: children start phonics in Reception, staff are expert, and pupils who need help get swift support. Pupils with SEND are identified quickly and supported well, and behaviour is calm and orderly. The curriculum is broad and ambitious, and many subjects have been recently reviewed so that knowledge builds over time. However, in some wider-curriculum subjects the impact of these changes is not yet clear, and leaders need more time to assure themselves that pupils know and remember what is intended. In early years, independent tasks sometimes do not support the intended learning well enough; children do not always get enough time to practise, and occasionally wait too long before moving on. This was the school’s first routine inspection since the COVID-19 pandemic and it is part of Discovery Schools Academy Trust. Safeguarding is effective, parents value staff kindness and approachability, and leaders are well supported by the trust and local advisory board. The report identifies two main priorities: embedding the new wider-curriculum plans and making early years tasks more purposeful and better paced. No overall effectiveness grade was given under the current framework.
