The Sydney Russell School has demonstrated good overall effectiveness in its first Ofsted inspection since becoming an academy. There is a broad and ambitious curriculum that supports pupils' learning, particularly in primary and early years phases, where leaders have placed a strong emphasis on reading. Pupils feel safe and are well-supported in their education, leading to positive attitudes towards learning and a respectful school environment. However, challenges remain particularly in key stage 3 for some subjects, where planning and coherence for pupils needing additional literacy support need improvement.
