Bruntcliffe Academy is a secondary academy within The GORSE Academies Trust, inspected in November 2024. The inspection found the school to be performing well across the board: the quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, and leadership and management were all judged good, and the previous inspection grade was also good. The report notes stable leadership and demonstrable improvement across all areas, with most staff feeling supported and trustees and governors having a sharp understanding of strengths and priorities. Pupils are taught to take pride in themselves and the school’s values, and most achieve highly through a consistently high-quality curriculum. Pupils with SEND and disadvantaged pupils are prioritised and well supported, reading is a strong priority, and pupils benefit from a comprehensive personal development programme and an impressive range of clubs, trips and careers opportunities. Most pupils behave respectfully, bullying is dealt with quickly, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. There are still areas to improve. Teaching and assessment are not consistent across all lessons, with some pupils not receiving clear modelling or timely correction of misconceptions. A significant number of pupils are persistently absent, and the school’s new behaviour approaches are not yet fully embedded, with a small number of pupils not behaving well. Repeated suspensions have reduced but need to fall further.

Attaimenment 8 is a measure of a pupil's average grade across a set of 8 subjects. The 8 subjects which make up Attainment 8 are:
- English
- Maths
- 3 subjects from qualifications that count towards the English Baccalaureate (EBacc), like sciences, language and history
- 3 more GCSE qualifications (including EBacc subjects) or technical awards from a list approved by the Department for Education
Each grade a pupil gets is assigned a point score from 9 (the highest) to 1 (the lowest). These scores are added up, with English and maths counted twice.

Admissions: local authority offers data from the Department for Education. A school is oversubscribed when at least 5% of the families who put it first were not offered a place, and undersubscribed when everyone who put it first got in but 10% or more of its places were unfilled in the Department's school capacity survey (the latest survey is used for entry years it does not cover). Places: Department for Education, School capacity, from local authorities' annual survey as at 1 May. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024–25); the survey was not run in 2020. Places include sixth form places. Forecasts are the local authority's own for the school's planning area, an area it uses to plan places that is not the school's catchment area. The forecast starts from a head count in 2025; the dashed line is the Department's estimate of places in that area, including those the authority has firm plans for. Planned places are cumulative, and only those with firm plans are counted.

Source: Department for Education, School workforce in England. Each year is the one the school year ends in (2025 is 2024/25). Pupils per teacher counts full-time-equivalent pupils and teachers. Turnover is the share of a year's teachers (full-time equivalent) who were not at the school the following year, whether they moved to another school or left state-funded teaching. Turnover and sickness figures run one year behind the ratios. Sick leave is the share of teachers who took at least one day in the year, so it swings widely at small schools, where a few teachers can make it 0% or 100%. The national figures are for all state schools of the same type.
