Pupils feel safe and happy, behave with maturity and contribute meaningfully to school life. Early years provision is particularly strong, and reading is taught rigorously so that pupils become fluent and enthusiastic readers. The school has improved significantly since its previous inspection and is well led within the Beckfoot Trust. Staff are positive about workload and well-being, governance is ambitious, and safeguarding arrangements are effective. Pupils with SEND access the same ambitious curriculum as their peers and are well supported. Personal development is a notable strength, preparing pupils well for life in modern Britain and helping them understand and respect diversity. There are still areas to refine. In some subjects, strategies for helping pupils recall and build on prior learning are less well developed than in English and mathematics, so knowledge is not always built as deeply. Teachers do not consistently address pupils’ misconceptions, meaning some errors persist. Attendance for some pupils remains below the school’s high expectations, and leaders continue to work relentlessly to improve it.
