The curriculum is broad and ambitious, and teaching is generally secure, with effective reading support. However, there are two main areas for development. Oracy expectations are inconsistent across subjects, so pupils are not always supported to articulate ideas and deepen understanding as fully as they could. In addition, leaders’ checks on teaching do not routinely focus on how well key groups—especially disadvantaged pupils and those with SEND—learn across the curriculum, and there is some variability in how well teachers check disadvantaged pupils’ learning and address barriers. Leaders have responded thoughtfully to a changing context, including an increase in pupils with EHC plans, and staff and parents speak positively about leadership. Safeguarding standards are met. The school has clear plans to strengthen teaching consistency, but the next steps focus on embedding oracy across the curriculum and sharpening curriculum and teaching checks to target support more precisely for disadvantaged pupils.
