Hitchin Girls' School, located at Highbury Road, SG4 9RS, is an academy secondary school in Hitchin, Hertfordshire, England. Established in July 1889, it was founded by John Mattock and has since evolved into a highly regarded academic institution. The school has a cascade of modern educational facilities, including a Main Block constructed in 1906, which houses classrooms for mathematics, history, classical studies, computing, and art, as well as a library, Main Hall, and a school library that was formerly the dormitories.

The campus spans across Windmill Hill, encompassing playing fields, woods, and specialist facilities such as:

  • A Science and Gym Block, built in 1972, hosting indoor PE and sciences facilities
  • The Lower Block, built in 1978
  • A Sixth Form Centre, and
  • Woodside, a new block of classrooms, completed in 2018 to accommodate an expanded Year 7 intake

The evident success of the academy is apparent in the accolades achieved; in June 2013, Hitchin Girls' School was given an "Outstanding" rating by Ofsted. Currently, the school has 1079 students in attendance, with 314 students enrolled in the Sixth Form. Hitchin Girls' School divides its student population of 8 houses: Austen, Brontë, Curie, Frank, Jewel, Pankhurst, Rosa, and Teresa.

The school's curriculum includes specialist teaching areas for art and design, textiles, graphics, and resistant materials, ICT and business technology, drama, mathematics, music, and science. Hitchin Girls' School has continuously grown and developed, recently opening a new Sports Hall, containing a four-court hall, dance studio, and small fitness suite, in February 2018, as well as a new 10-classroom teaching block and an enlarged dining space and further science laboratory in September 2018. The school's motto is "Intelligence, Simplicity, Respect" for the greater benefit of its community.
