Published outcomes are also uneven: reading and combined reading, writing and mathematics results in the latest year are below national averages, phonics attainment has been variable over time, and the disadvantage gap remains wide. The main next steps are to sustain recent attendance improvements and to further refine the curriculum and teaching in the small number of subjects where this work is less embedded. Overall, Barlby is a well-led, highly inclusive school with strong personal development and pastoral care, but it still has work to do to secure consistently strong published outcomes and attendance for all pupils.
